Interview Tips for Freshers

interview tips for fresher

There is a common saying that minds are made up more by who you are than what you know. Keep in mind these interview tips to make the most out of your interview.

  • Job interviews are never easy. The interviewer will have a certain agenda for each candidate usually based on his/her field of expertise. A technical interview can be very tough if you are not sound in the field, the interviewer can grind you extensively till the time they know for sure whether or not you are completely qualified for the position you seek.
  • First and foremost is dressing up appropriately for the interview. Do not dress up loudly, do not wear a jeans and funky accessories just to prove you are in sync with fashion, neither should to dress up in such a way to suggest you have no dressing sense. Remember shabby attire reflects a shabby personality.
  • Before the interview do your homework properly. Do a detailed research about the Company’s main products and services and likely new products and services. Its key markets, its position in market and between major competitors. Also gather information about its history, reputation and achievements, its financial position, profit and turnover.
  • Arrange all the papers required in a folder : Resume / CV, call letters, degree certificates, mark lists, NSS, NCC, sports / games certificates, experience certificates, references. Don’t forget to get extra copies of your resume and other documents but don’t toss your files across unless asked.
  • Arrive on time or a little early. Walk in the door as if you already work there; carry yourself as though you feel perfectly comfortable with the situation. In the waiting area, switch off your mobile it reflects a sincere attitude, politely tell the receptionist who you are meeting and in a friendly way, ask where you should sit. Take slow, deep breaths to help you remain calm and focused. Waiting hall behavior is a point that HR’s take very seriously.
  • When introduced to the interviewer, shake hands only if they offer their hand, have a firm, but not painful, handshake. Have good posture when sitting or standing. Introduce yourself in a relaxed, confident manner projecting a feeling of confidence.
  • Face the panel, but don’t fall of the chair in a headlong rush-and-skid attempt to tell your story. If you answer something incorrectly do not argue and try to defend yourself, owe it up and take the responsibility.
  • It is good to be eager to keep your point but don’t get in the flow by over-reacting to questions aggressively, it might end up showing your negative and cynical attitude. If you get stuck in a complex situation just remember sense of humor and emotional maturity are the character traits that will come to your rescue.
  • The interview does not end till the time you are out of the hall, when informed, collect your belongings thank everyone present step back, for a few steps don’t show your back. Don’t rush but move out with dignity and remember to shut the door gently when you leave.

Best of luck……
